Warranty Claims and Consumer Guarantee Requests

We will not request personal information beyond what is listed above for the purpose of processing a warranty claim. Fields such as date of birth, gender, or unrelated lifestyle information are not required and will not be collected for this purpose.
Website and Digital Interactions

This information is used solely to monitor and improve our website and services. We only collect personal information through our website if you actively provide it, for example by completing a form, registering an account, or submitting a warranty claim.

You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect our ability to send you transactional messages such as order confirmations and warranty correspondence.

Overseas disclosure: Your information may be stored with cloud service providers located outside Australia (including the USA, UK, and Singapore). Appropriate safeguards are in place.
Consequences of not providing information: If you choose not to provide the requested details, we may be unable to assess or process your warranty claim.

1B. Online Store and E-Commerce Customers
When you purchase products through our website (protectabed.com.au), we collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to process and fulfil your order. This includes:

· Payment information — processed securely through our payment gateway; we do not store full credit card or debit card numbers on our systems

Payment Processing and Third-Party Gateways
Payments made through our website are processed by third-party payment gateway providers (such as Shopify Payments, PayPal, Afterpay, or similar services). We do not receive or retain your full payment card details.
Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) Services
Where you choose to use a Buy Now, Pay Later service (such as Afterpay, Zip, or Klarna) to purchase our products, that transaction is governed by the relevant BNPL provider's terms and privacy policy. Sleep Corp Pty Ltd is not a party to the credit arrangement between you and the BNPL provider. However, we may receive confirmation of payment authorisation from the provider for the purpose of fulfilling your order.

We use and disclose personal information only for the purpose for which it was collected, or for a related secondary purpose that you would reasonably expect, or to which you have consented. The primary purposes for which we use your personal information include:

5. Credit Reporting
This section applies where Sleep Corp Pty Ltd acts as a credit provider — for example, where we offer trade accounts, deferred payment terms, or other credit arrangements to customers or business partners. It does not apply to standard online retail purchases processed through our website payment gateway, or to Buy Now, Pay Later arrangements managed independently by third-party BNPL providers.
Where a credit arrangement is in place, we handle credit information in accordance with Part IIIA of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2014 (CR Code). We may collect, use, and disclose credit information for the following purposes:
· Assessing your application for a credit account or deferred payment arrangement
· Obtaining a consumer credit report from a credit reporting body (CRB) such as Equifax, Illion, or Experian, to assess your creditworthiness
· Notifying a CRB of a default on a credit account where permitted under the Privacy Act
· Exchanging information with other credit providers regarding the status of a credit account where you are in default with another credit provider
· Managing and administering an existing credit account
Personal information disclosed to or obtained from CRBs may include identification information, consumer credit liability details, repayment history, default information, and serious credit infringement information, as defined under Part IIIA of the Privacy Act.
Before accessing a consumer credit report, we will take reasonable steps to notify you that we intend to do so and the purpose for which the report will be used. You have the right to access credit information we hold about you and to request corrections to inaccurate information. Complaints about our handling of credit information may be directed to our Privacy Officer (see Section 9) and, if unresolved, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
Note: Standard online retail purchases through our website are not credit arrangements and are not subject to this section. If you are unsure whether a credit arrangement applies to your account, please contact our client services team.
6. Data Retention and Destruction (APP 11)

When personal information is no longer required and no legal obligation to retain it exists, we will take reasonable steps to permanently delete, destroy, or de-identify it in a secure manner, consistent with our obligations under APP 11.
7. Security of Personal Information
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Our security measures include physical security controls at our premises, password protection and access controls on electronic systems, firewalls and encryption for data in transit, and staff training on privacy obligations.
While we take all reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to or from us. Any information you provide to us is at your own risk during transmission.
Overseas Storage
We may store personal information with cloud service providers whose servers are located outside Australia, including in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and other countries from time to time. Where personal information is disclosed to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure those recipients handle your information in a manner consistent with the APPs.
8. Mandatory Data Breach Notifications
We are committed to protecting your personal information. In the event of an eligible data breach as defined under the Privacy Law (being a breach that is likely to result in serious harm to affected individuals), we will notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and affected individuals as soon as practicable. Our notification will include a description of the breach, the personal information involved, the likely consequences, and the steps we are taking in response.
9. Your Rights — Access, Correction and Complaints
Under the Privacy Law, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request that we correct any information that is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, irrelevant, or misleading. There are limited exceptions to these rights as set out in the Privacy Law.
To make a request to access or correct your personal information, or to make a complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We will acknowledge your request promptly and respond within a reasonable timeframe. If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
We may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of locating, retrieving, and providing access to your personal information. We will advise you of any applicable fee before proceeding.
