Miracle Babies foundation is Australia’s leading organisation supporting premature and sick babies, their families
and the hospitals that care for them.
“It’s important for families to be aware of information and products available to help prevent and treat conditions such as flat head condition which can cause added stress, particularly for those with a premature or sick newborn who are already going through difficult times. We’re proud have the support of Protect-A-Bed® and Lifenest™ which will help more Australian families challenged by prematurity or sickness”.
Kylie Pussell, General Manager and Co-Founder Miracle Babies Foundation
Every year in Australia over 48,000 newborn babies require the help of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN), 27,000 of these babies (1 in 10) are born premature and up to 1,000 babies lose their fight for life. For these families, the experience can often have a lasting impact on the entire family unit.
Chayce was born at 35 weeks with Gastroschisis. His bowel and most of his intestines were on the outside of his body. After delivering him naturally the surgical team had all of his intestines back inside within one hour. Record timing we were told. Unfortunately he contracted meningitis at 4 days old and we stayed for 4 long months. Chayce is now a happy, heathy five year old big brother.
